John is from Tamworth in the Midlands. He saw what he wanted on the dandycars.com site and homed in on it. These are John's actual words with regard to dandycars.com...
"I had been looking for an imported MX5 for a while and had checked out many web sites in the process of looking. I had heard many horror stories about the risks involved such as buying a car unseen and also paying money upfront with very little guarantee of actually even seeing the car ever. I came across the dandycars.com site and was impressed with its content, even more so when the site was redeveloped at Christmas time. The initial main attraction was that the cars could actually be seen in the country and driven with no obligation or money to pay out." "I soon found a car that was of interest to me, this wasn't too hard as I only wanted a BRG (British Racing Green) V-Spec car, I then rang up and had a long chat discussing the car. I then arranged a time to view the car. It was as simple as that. When I first saw the car, I was impressed with it. It hadn't been over described or built up to be something that it wasn't. David made it clear that there was no pressure to buy the car and this was very true. I was allowed to take the car for a long test drive and was basically impressed enough to buy the car. I also wanted to buy a hardtop with the car and this was sorted out for me along with all the other parts such as the hood cover. When I had bought the car, David even gave me some contact numbers for spare parts as well as a long list of insurers who were known to be sympathetic to imported cars." "Overall the process of buying the car was very easy and I felt very comfortable and at ease with David. He made it clear that they weren't just interested in a quick sale, he made sure that I was happy with the car, and that I was going to remain happy during my ownership. I now look forward to enjoying my MX-5!" A year on, John emailed me to let me know how his MX-5 was doing... "Hi David, I just thought that I would drop you a quick line to let you know how I'm getting on. I bought J442WEW, the BRG V-Spec with the tan hood off you last February, I have since put a private plate on it, C307JON, and some 15 inch alloys with 195/50 15 Yokohamas. Apart from that, it's as I bought it. I have had a brilliant year, it has been spot on and caused me no concerns at all. I have covered over 10,000 miles in it. I've just put it through an MOT and it passed with no work needed at all. In fact the testers could not believe it was a 1991 car as it was so clean and straight underneath as well as on top. I've just passed 60,000 miles so I had the cambelt done as a precaution. But apart from that, I have had it serviced every 6 months. Buying this car was a top move, I still enjoy getting in it and just driving, normally I only keep a car for 6 months, but I havent even thought about changing this one. Thanks
John Collins"
