Not officially a special edition, Mazda Japan took a number of second hand MX5s and rebuilt them with new parts, this was referred to as the 'Refresh' program. 2 specs were available, the largely aesthetic Version 1 was the cheaper choice and included new carpets and interiors (available in black only), a respray (including a choice of colours) and a new hood with glass rear screen instead of the original plastic. Suspension was swapped for Mark 2 parts and a Mazdaspeed front engine brace bar was added. No significant engine modifications were made. Mode details to follow re: Version 2. The 'Refresh' program was applied on a car-by-car basis for customers that brought their car in for work. Prices started at just over £7000 for the Version 1.
